Scerbo PT and the HSS Rehab Network have partnered with BetterPT to offer streamlined PT search through convenient mobile app.
If you’ve had orthopedic surgery, proper post-operative rehabilitation is a critical step to ensure the most successful outcome possible. That means choosing the right physical therapy practice — and there are a number of factors to consider.
First, you’ll need a practice where there are PTs who specialize in your particular type of injury or surgery. For example, for age-related surgery, such as a hip replacement, you may need a geriatric PT who can help restore mobility and strength. An athlete with an ACL tear or a torn rotator cuff will need a PT experienced with sports-related injuries, such as our Doctors of Physical Therapy (DPT) here at Scerbo PT.
Next, remember that there may be regular visits over a period of weeks, so the practice needs to be in a location that’s convenient. For example, New Jersey residents who commute to New York City need to think carefully about which side of the Hudson River will be the best place to receive their PT.
And factors such as appointment availability and insurance will be considerations, as well.
Fortunately, this important decision now can be made much more easily with a little help from technology. The Hospital for Special Surgery Rehabilitation Network, of which Scerbo PT is a proud member, has partnered with BetterPT, to simplify this process through the BetterPT mobile app.
This powerful digital platform makes it simple for patients to:
- Use geolocation to find providers convenient to their home or workplace
- Do a search based on insurance
- View the profiles, specializations and certifications of individual PTs
- Check appointment availability on the spot
- Call directly from the app
- Track appointments with an in-app calendar
